Welcoming Delhi patients at our office in Port Dover
All dental services for DelhiA focused examination starts with your current symptoms
An emergency exam concentrates on the problem that brought you in: pain, swelling, injury or damage to a tooth or restoration. Its purpose is to gather enough information to discuss the cause and suitable next steps. It is not a promise that a particular treatment will be completed that day.
Delhi residents can call our Port Dover office to discuss assessment availability. Explain what has changed and whether another provider has already examined or treated the area.

Build the symptom history
Tell the dentist when the concern began and whether it followed an injury, meal or recent dental procedure. Explain what triggers discomfort and how long it lasts. Mention swelling, a loose feeling or difficulty using the tooth even if pain is the main reason for attending.
Provide medication, allergy and medical information, including what you have taken for this problem and when. Describe any earlier examination, treatment or images and how symptoms changed afterward. That history helps connect the current concern with care already provided, while the present condition still needs its own assessment.
Examine and investigate
The clinician examines the affected area and may assess nearby teeth, the bite or supporting tissues. Appropriate tests and imaging depend on the suspected problem. Ask why information is needed rather than assuming every emergency exam includes the same diagnostic steps.
If findings remain uncertain, ask which explanation is supported and what still needs investigation. Clarify whether observation, another test or specialist assessment is recommended, and how that next step will be arranged. A focused examination should leave you understanding the unresolved question, even when it cannot yet provide a definitive treatment recommendation.
Review the choices
Ask what needs attention now, which options are suitable and what the proposed care aims to achieve. If temporary protection or another initial measure is offered, clarify its limits. A shorter first step may be part of a larger plan rather than a completed repair.
Discuss treatment timing and estimates once suitable options have been identified, including costs that depend on further findings. For a referral, clarify the reason and who makes contact. Before leaving, establish your next action and the provider responsible, even if the examination itself did not include a completed procedure.
Know the review arrangements
Ask for the instructions, symptoms to report and follow-up timing to be explained clearly. If pain changes, give the team the new pattern instead of assuming a previous diagnosis or appointment plan covers every development.
Ask which areas the urgent examination covered and whether a comprehensive checkup or hygiene visit is still recommended. Once the immediate issue is managed, arrange wider care according to those findings. A focused visit can answer the presenting concern without establishing that every tooth, restoration or preventive need has been reviewed.
Planning your appointment
Call the Port Dover practice with your symptoms and their timing. Mention any injury or swelling at the start and confirm the appointment before travelling.
Bring current health information and any relevant instructions from a previous provider. Ask whether the booked time is for examination only or includes another planned stage.
Before you book
Have a question about your situation? Our team can help you plan a visit.
An urgent assessment focuses on the presenting problem. A broader examination or hygiene visit may still be appropriate later. Ask what was assessed and whether any routine care should be arranged after the immediate concern is managed.
The need depends on the concern and what information the dentist requires. Tell the team about relevant recent images and ask why any new image is recommended. Examination and diagnostic choices should reflect the individual problem.
Describe the area and the sensations as accurately as you can. The clinician can assess the teeth and surrounding structures to investigate the source. You do not need to identify a tooth number or repeatedly test the area yourself before attending.
Ask what has been ruled in or out, what remains uncertain and what further assessment is recommended. The next step may involve review or another provider. A clear explanation of uncertainty is preferable to assuming a procedure without enough information.
Once suitable treatment options are identified, ask for an explanation of the expected fees and stages. If the plan depends on further findings, clarify how that could affect the estimate. Assessment and later treatment may be separate appointments.
Toothache returning after urgent care needs an updated account of symptoms. Our Delhi guide covers reporting pain triggers, swelling and changes since treatment.
A tooth pushed into the gum and one knocked out require different responses. Our Delhi trauma guide covers describing displacement and arranging injury assessment.
